About my new song Dump Him and how it came to be

It's official! My new song Dump Him is live! Woohoo! 🥳

I wanted to expand a little bit about this particular song. This is what I'm calling my quarantine project, cause I made it happen during the stay at home order, and it's my first time in a while that I mixed and mastered myself.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have had the time to sit down in front of my laptop and mix a song for hours like I did with this one. So I'm grateful I took the time to do it, and it actually kept my sanity during this very uncertain time in our lives.

Technically, this song is a remix. The inception of it actually goes back a few years. I wrote it, I wanna say, 6 or 7 years ago? It's a song that we played live with my band at the time and was always well received by the audience, so I thought it would be great practice for my production skills to remix it into something completely new. And by completely I mean a total 180 flip. It used to be straight up guitars, vocals, and drums. Which are still there in the new version, but only as part of a bigger picture.

At the time I wrote the song, I believe I had a crush on someone who had recently entered into a relationship with a guy I could not stand. I thought my crush could do so much better than him and should dump him for me instead. I mean, who am I to say who you oughta be with, but you know, when you're young your feelings are wacky like that.

Anyway, that's it for now. I will actually put up a video on YouTube soon breaking down my mixing session on Logic so you can see and hear my thought processing during this project.

The song is available wherever you get your music, so stream it on repeat like there's no tomorrow! Here's a link to get you there faster.
